“Model the Change” was one of the motives on the hoodies that my model colleagues Dana & Annett, and I were sporting during the 50km Hamburg “Mammutmarsch” last Saturday.
“Beauty with Backbone” and “Hot Body, Cool Conscience” were the two other slogans.
On Instagram people liked “Beauty with Backbone” and “Hot Body, Cool Conscience” best. I actually love “Model the Change” – Annett came up with it. Why? Because it says in three words what walk4future® is all about.
It says: I show you how change works and looks like. To be a model, therefore, is nothing passive. It’s a conscious way of behaviour. And a conscious choice how to represent ones values to the world.
One of my favourite mind games is to think about the origin of words we use daily. “Comfortzone” is one of my favourites. Or “Charisma”. Or “Radical”. Or “Revolution”. … And of course “Model”.
A model is a publicly visible example for how something should look like or work. That’s what it is.
And that’s what we need to become – all of us – who are part of walk4future®: examples for
- how sustainability in fashion looks like
- how it works
There is no single “correct” model. We need an inspiring diversity of models. Because we are all different and still, we are connected by the same values of appreciation for the miracle of life – our own and for all life on this planet Earth.
We want to show the world how it looks to joyfully CARE for oneself and our communities.
The world is at a critical state right now. There is war on a multitude of levels: these are no wars between countries. These are wars between values.
The next months will be critical and they need us to show others what we stand for.
So ask yourself: HOW WILL YOU MODEL THE CHANGE?
