Week 5 of our preparation course for this year’s #walk&change challenges. History has shown that great revolutions often began with slow, simple steps. Becoming aware of this power is essential to avoid feeling small or insignificant. We can all achieve something when we join forces with others.

1789, Women’s March on Versailles
One of the pivotal moments of the French Revolution, leading to a new balance of power and ultimately displacing the established, privileged classes of the French aristocracy in favor of the common people.

1930, Salt March
The Salt March was an act of nonviolent civil disobedience in colonial India, led by Mahatma Gandhi. It was based on Gandhi’s principles of nonviolent protest, called Satyagraha, which he loosely translated as “The Power of Truth.”

1965, From Selma to Montgomery

The Selma Marches were a series of three marches from Selma to Montgomery, USA. They were organized to protest the blockade of voting rights for African Americans. They became a turning point, leading to the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

So this week, reach out to a friend and take him/her for a walk – without your smartphones, just deeply connect through real conversation.

Our power lies in our ability to truly connect with one another.
