Have you ever tried to NOT BUY anything new for a 90 day period? Even better: have you ever tried to not ADD ANYTHING to your wardrobe for a period of 3 months (be it second-hand or new, no matter)?
Well, I have. I was following Remake on Instagram for a while and was really inspired by what they are doing and how they are doing it. This is also the reason, why I am partnering with them for season 2! (But more on that soon)
–> Check them out!
After that 90 Day Challenge I plead guilty of not having been able to keep it up. In a period of 90 days, I added 3 items to my wardrobe:
- a jacket that was gifted to me by a friend because it was cold, I was freezing and she didn’t want that jacket anyway (we all know those items: you buy them only to find out that they actually do not look good on you. Fault of those fashion store mirrors that make you appear taller or slimmer…)
- a belt that I was thinking of since yeeeears and finally, when I found it, I had to get it.
- a coat, because I fall for long, wavy, special coats. They give me that feeling of Nicolas Cage in “Face/Off” where he, the villain, walks towards an airplane, having his caot wave in the wind and showing off his two golden Glocks. (If you haven’t watched that movie, you must!)
- and then I got a second-hand ball gown which I, however, exchanged for one of my evening dresses. So, that makes one in and one out.
BUT… the 90 days challenge still did the trick! I was really getting out of the habit of shopping! I even avoieded window shopping! And I found out,
that I have so many matchable pieces in my wardrobe that I could change my look for weeks in a row without missing anything!
So, recently I had some time after a meeting and, strolling through Viennas’ main shopping street, I popped into a store, selected three items and was already hadding towards the fitting rooms… when I suddently said to myself
Nah, I don’t need that actually. It’s a waste of time to try that on.
And so I carried the stuff back to their hangers and left the shop. WOW! That was so easy! And believe me – I don’t miss any of those things now.
