Beautiful clothes, thoughtful conversations and a question worth taking home: does this fit my life and MYSELF —or do I simply like the look of it?
On 23 October, nine participants joined Anna Karsch, Julia van Almsick and Martina Gleissenebner-Teskey for the 2nd Munich Style Walk. This time, our program was even more full-circle than in April.
We started the evening with some thought offered by Martina and her new book: “CHARISMA – Shape your Life. Change the World“.
We are all special, have all our unique gifts to bring to the world: what kind of difference do we want to make through our decisions and our actions? And how do we communicate who we are through our style?
We then set out to discover inspiring stores: About Given, WE.RE & Haben Will. We explored different approaches to fashion and looked at our own wardrobes with fresh eyes. There was room for curiosity and inspiring conversations with the shop owners, for shopping and for thinking more carefully about what we wanted to take home.
Back at akjumii Store & Studio, Anna introduced us to the label and its community store concept. Her explanation of the name—rooted in “you and me”—reflected an approach that gives the wearer a role in shaping the result. The adaptable 3IN1 COATS made that idea tangible. How a garment is worn becomes part of its design. There is space to experiment and make it your own.
That freedom connected naturally with Julia’s styling advice. Looking at favourite pieces and new finds together opened up possibilities that can be difficult to see when standing alone in front of a wardrobe. One of many useful tips Julia shared with us was : take a photo when you feel good in an outfit. Over time, those pictures become a personal reference—a reminder of combinations that work for your body, your daily life and your sense of self. On a morning when nothing seems to fit together, you already have somewhere to begin.
What makes each of us distinctive? What do we want to express, and what do we want to contribute to the world around us?
These questions reach beyond clothing, yet getting dressed can be one small, everyday way of exploring them. The more clearly we understand ourselves, the more intentionally we can choose what feels right.
By the end of the evening, all participants had helped create a warm, lively exchange. This is what we hope to make possible through walk4future®: opportunities to discover fashion more consciously, meet the people behind it and develop confidence in our own choices.
Now: take a look in your wardrobe: which piece feels most like you—and when did you last wear it?
Thank you, Jette Beyer, for documenting this special evening!
