As you might know already, walk&save does not mean to just walk or generally not to buy. The main goal is not to become fit or financially healthier because of not spending.
But both are definitely side effects of what the walk&save Challenge really is:
A consciousness – challenge.
- we want to become conscious about what we really want and need so we can only invest in things we definitely want and need
- we want to become conscious about our impulses so we can replace them by clear decisions
Week 1 – exercise:
Observe your buying impulse
Whenever you are in a store, doing your normal shopping, or when you go for a stroll and pass by nice shopping windows: observe yourself and your buying impulses:
- When do you get that urge to buy something?
- What is it that triggers you?
And if you can: don’t buy. Or at least delay the acquisition. Go home and let it pass.
If you want, write your experiences with this exercise in a journal. (Journaling can help, but is not a must. Let’s not overcomplicate things 😉 )
Enjoy!
